How it works

Positions on demand. No swimmer records.

Pool Position looks up Swim England’s public rankings when you ask, shows you where a swimmer stands, and then lets the data go. We don’t keep a database of swimmers or their results.

What happens when you search

  1. 1. You search

You type a swimmer’s name and pick their club or county, and any region or national list.

  2. 2. We read the public lists

Our server asks swimmingresults.org for Swim England’s last-12-months ranking lists for those choices: whole lists, never a named swimmer.

  3. 3. We find the swimmer

We look for the name in each list and work out their position in all 19 events.

  4. 4. You see the positions

The results go straight to your screen, with links to the official lists. Nothing is saved against the swimmer.

What we hold about swimmers, and for how long

No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Search requests are sent in the body of the request, not the address, so swimmers’ names don’t end up in web server logs.

Hidden swimmers and corrections

Swimmers shown as “Member Hidden” on swimmingresults.org are never shown in Pool Position, in results or downloads. Every result comes from Swim England’s published rankings, so if a time or name is wrong, or a swimmer wants to be hidden, ask your club or Swim England: once it changes there, Pool Position shows the change within the hour.

What we do keep

Only the details of people with a Pool Position account or a beta or club request: name, email, club and sign-in details. Our privacy notice explains what, why and for how long.
